Black Noise Media is a multi-platform company here to service all of your multimedia needs. Consisting of three components – Production, Development and Consulting – our team is composed of experienced and knowledgeable media specialists, writers, directors, producers, animators, graphic artists and media marketing professionals.
Michael Pinckney is the founder and managing director of Black Noise Media, a full service production house based in New York City. He got his start over twelve years ago under the tutelage of filmmaker Spike Lee and soon after joined The Director’s Guild of America. He has over 10 years experience as an assistant director on films and television series such as The 25th Hour, 7th Heaven, The Best Man, Law & Order, Inside Man and The academy award nominated film Precious in which he was nominated for a DGA award along with the director Lee Daniels as part of his directing team. He has also worked as an assistant director on countless TV commercials for clients like Coco Cola, McDonalds, Nike, Microsoft and Burger King. Mr. Pinckney has directed short films, commercials, music videos and PSA’s for clients like Goodwill Industries, The NY GIANTS, Select Media, Youth Communications, Def Jam and 4mm Games. He won an award for Excellence in Media from The Black Men’s Film Conference for his HIV film “The Candy Store” and toured the film festival circuit with films from his short film collection. Recently he made his feature film debut with “You’re Nobody til somebody kills you”, a gritty crime thriller Executive Produced by his mentor Spike Lee. He consistently speaks at high schools and colleges which prompted him to start The Black Noise Foundation, the non-profit arm for Black Noise Media as a tool to give back and help nurture young aspiring filmmakers. Under Pinckney’s leadership Black Noise Media currently has a wide range of film and television projects in various phases of development.

THE TROY SHAWN WELCOME STORY Short Film
Based on true events tells the story of Troy Shawn Welcome, a troubled teenager who battles family turmoil, the lure of the streets and peer pressure and academic misfortunes on the way to a successful career as a high school principal in The Bronx. Determined to be the man his father never was Troy embarks on a journey of enlightenment and self-awareness. After dropping out of high school, he returns and later enrolls into an alternate school known for nurturing its students back to academic health. Going to school in this new environment, Troy faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. There he learns about himself and learns how to trust those who only want to help him succeed. With the support of teachers and his classmates, he graduates from high school and later attends college and goes on to become a successful principal at an alternative school similar to the one he went to as a teen.
